Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Submit labels to the USDA and keep USDA approvals on file.
  • Review and revise product labels to comply with USDA/FDA regulations.
  • Create and update in-house Product Specification Sheets as well as Product Specification sheets for customers.
  • Manage files of Suppliers Product Specification Sheets, Letter of Guarantees, and COAs, claim substantiation documents and records.
  • Create nutritional facts panels using USDA nutrient database and/or Genesis software.
  • Keep records of product, component, and ingredient assembly information.
  • Create formulation sheets for production.
  • Work cross functionally with operations, QA, production, marketing, and sales to ensure compliance on label and packaging and facilitate new product launches.
  • Work with chefs, culinary consultants, and agencies in taking recipes from concept to production.
  • Maintain working knowledge of and follow industry regulations and customer requirements in development and commercialization of products.
  • Develop specifications for all raw materials, process controls, and finished goods.
  • Independently review changes in products, product specifications, and manufacturing processes to evaluate regulatory implications of the change. Advise team and implement changes accordingly.
  • Represent Regulatory Affairs in project team meetings to guide regulatory compliance during product development and launch.
  • Analyze changing regulatory requirements and their impact on the organization.
  • Coordinate, review, and manage regulatory documents to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring that the internal regulatory department database for new products is kept updated with back up information for all formulations to ensure that all necessary paper work is available for labeling, and registration.
  • Successfully assist the company during several annual external regulatory examination and audits covering compliances of BRC, FSIS, USDA, Organic and FDA standards

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking, communication, are required.
  • Strong working knowledge of food Federal, State and Local regulations with specific emphasis on nutritional labeling food ingredients under both USDA and FDA.
  • Must be proficient in knowledge of food processing, preparation, quality assurance and quality control with extensive and proven record in maintaining the highest standards of documentation, applications of regulatory requirements and policies in the USA.

                    Summary:

                    This is a new role created to support a growing team. This associate will manage projects from
                    kick-off to post-launch review for new product development to continuous improvement. The
                    heart of the role is an experienced cross-functional team leader who understands the different
                    teams’ roles and shepherd projects through the critical path. This individual will be responsible
                    for driving team success from benchtop to production working in lockstep with the other
                    department managers. 

                     Ideal candidate is passionate about teamwork, loves detail, communicates clearly and concisely,
                    and anticipates potential roadblocks and helps formulate solutions with the team. Candidate
                    would preferably have direct experience in the food manufacturing industry and must have
                    direct experience in leading cross-functional teams in project management. This is not an entry
                    level position and at least 5 years of experience is required to be successful in this role. 

                    This individual is supported in their deliverables by Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations, QA,
                    Engineering/Maintenance, and the Culinary and R&D teams. This position functions within a
                    fast-paced environment of creative energy, novel product designs, processing innovation, and
                    the opportunity for professional growth in a rapidly growing company.

                     
                    Technical Job Functions:
                    • Lead cross-functional teams in delivering projects from concept to shelf including:
                      defining scope, identifying stakeholders, planning time and resources, executing plan,
                      monitoring progress, identifying issues, communicating updates and post launch
                      reviews

                    • Responsible for driving timelines and deliverables by collaborating with team resources

                    • Plan and lead cross-functional team meetings

                    • Identify issues as they arise and facilitate resolutions within the project team

                    • Lead preparation of comprehensive project documentation to enable smooth
                      development, commercialization and market entry

                    Core Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
                    • Project lifecycle management experience in a CPG company

                    • Knowledge of food processing and the CPG industry

                    • Excellent organizational skills and time management

                    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

                    • Ability to bring out the best in fellow team members and display leadership qualities

                    • Thorough understanding of stage-gates, critical paths, cross-functional roles

                    • Timeline and product lifecycle management

                    • Minimal travel may be required

                    Education and/or Experience
                    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college, either arts or sciences is acceptable

                    • Min 5 years experience in food CPG or manufacturing, managing product launches

                    • Strong computer skills and technological savvy is essential

                    Language Skills

                    Ideal candidate must be able to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions. Draft
                    memos and correspondence with ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and
                    small group situations to leadership, customers, clients, and other employees of the
                    organization.

                    Physical Demands

                    While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly involved with assessing food
                    products including smell, taste, and consume all food types. The individual occasionally lift
                    and/or move up to 50 pounds.

                    Work Environment

                    The individual will handle and is exposed to allergenic and sensitive materials, such as soy,

                      Assist in the development of new products according to the requirements of the Sales and
                      Marketing function from concept development to commercialization. Responsible for
                      applying scientific principles in research, development, production technology, quality
                      standards, packaging, and processing to design new and/or improved products. This is an
