Job Summary

The Quality Control Technician will work collaboratively with Quality Assurance Sanitation, Production, Maintenance, Warehouse and Production personnel to ensure timely execution of the company operation while ensuring uncompromised food safety compliance. Ensure that all duties are performed in accordance with USDA (U.S. Department of Ag), SSOP (Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures), HACCP (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Points), FDA (Food & Drug Administration), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), all safety policies and procedures, and any other established policies and requirements necessary.

Essential Job Function
  • Supports Food Safety and Quality Assurance department in daily tasks

  • Trains and develops associates as necessary including but not limited to development,
    food safety, GMP’s, etc.

  • Ensures raw, commodities, finished product and micro environmental samples are
    collected in a timely manner according to company policy and reports discrepancies and
    violations to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor immediately

  • Accurately and efficiently enters food safety and quality data into computer databases

  • Evaluates raw and finished product for defects and non-conformance to quality standards;
    accurately completes and submits supporting documentation; reports discrepancies and
    violations to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor, manager or other leaders immediately and documents corrective actions

  • Assist with microbiological testing of new products, technologies, etc.

  • Ensure GMP’s and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are being followed

  • Regular communication and interaction with manufacturing line employees

  • Maintains open lines of communication and positive working relationships with
    manufacturing staff

  • Sets as positive example by following all safety and GMP requirements at all times

  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by management

  • Contributes to a successful food safety culture by following the established guidelines as
    outlined in the company Food Safety Policy

  • Follows all Company food safety protocols without fail

  • Always perform tasks in a manner that protects and promotes food safety

  • Cooperates with managers and other leaders to ensure all Company legal and ethical
    requirements are met

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Quality Control

  • Strong sense of urgency

  • Ability to work PM and AM shifts, weekend and holiday hours

  • Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary to perform

  • Knowledge of sanitation procedures, production processes and quality control

  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

  • Basic level oral and written English comprehension

  • Basic levels of sanitation equipment and practices

  • Knowledge of various chemicals used in the sanitation process

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
    instructions, government regulations, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.

  • Ability to effectively guide employees.

  • Ability to work alone safely to complete assigned tasks.

  • Adheres to all company GMP’s and follows company directives on regulatory, product
    quality, sanitation, food safety, employee and environmental standards.

  • Effectively communicates with Production, Warehouse, Maintenance and QA, focusing
    on conducting effective and timely sanitation of specific areas within the food processing
    environment

  • Maintenance and upkeep of sanitation equipment to include documentation and
    preventative maintenance.

  • Performs Routine Sanitation work including but not limited to area assessment,
    organization, cleaning, sanitizing and auditing.

  • Assemble and disassemble assigned equipment in a safe manner.

  • Responsible for the effective utilization of employees, housekeeping, safety, utilization of
    required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
