Accounting Controller
Golden West Food Group is a leading provider of high quality prepared and processed food products. Our product lines include raw proteins, specialty snacks, cooked entrees and beverages sold to the retail and foodservice segments. We are looking for a seasoned controller to play a critical role in our accounting and finance function, maintaining performance of daily accounting functions while also focusing on value added analysis and
improvements.
Responsibilities
System operator’s main duties include:
Review journal entries and other accounting transactions, maintain overall accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, and ensure the financial statements are US GAAP compliant
Ensure performance of A/P and A/R processes by establishing critical KPI measurements; enforcing accountability and initiating corrective actions
Active role in weekly financial estimates and month-end close processes, as well as preparation of financial reports
Analyze financial statements and other reports to ensure accuracy of reporting
Direct the cost accounting function, taking responsibility for a cohesive and accurate result across all cost accounting areas
Identify opportunities to improve processes and minimize inefficiencies.
Provide support across all business functions as it relates to financial reporting or analysis
Assist annual audit and any other audits.
Assist with inventory control and counting procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
4-year degree required – Accounting/Business/Finance preferred
10+ years’ experience in accounting.
Solid understanding of US GAAP, general auditing standards and internal controls, and financial analysis tools and techniques is essential
Prefer Food Industry experience or similar
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong experience with ERP systems
Proven ability to build successful teams and develop environments that ensure accountability and success
